Als je een vlucht boekt kan je ook (niet altijd) je eigen stoel boeken. Elke stoel heeft wel zijn voor en nadelen. Als het gaat om veiligheid zijn de stoelen helemaal achterin het veiligst. De kans is kleiner op een gewonde of doden bij een crash. Als je in het midden van het vliegtuig zit is de kans het grootst op een gewonde of een doden. Als je voorin het vliegtuig zit is de kans iets kleiner op een gewonde of een doden ten opzichte van het midden. Als je in het midden zit, heb je de motoren vlakbij.

Gelukkig hoef jij je geen zorgen te maken over wat er gebeuren kan met een vliegtuig. Vliegen is nog altijd het veiligst als het gaat om vervoer. Dat is dat mannetje die altijd een ronde loopt om het vliegtuig. Elke maatschappij is verplicht dit te doen na elke vlucht. 

Conclusie: een vliegtuig ongeluk is erg klein. Nu weet je ook waarom de kans erg klein is. Er word goed gekeken naar veiligheid van een toestel. Eerder mag een toestel niet vertrekken. De technische dienst van een maatschappij controleert elk vliegtuig van neus tot staart, en van top tot wiel. Mocht er echt iets kapot zijn, dan gaat een toestel de hangar in voor een kleine beurt of een groot onderhoudsbeurt. Vliegen is nog altijd veiliger dan met de fiets, auto, trein of de tram. Maak je dus geen zorgen als je angst hebt voor vliegen. De stewardessen kennen de veiligheid van een toestel op hun duimpje. Zij controleren of jij je gordel om hebt, of jou tafeltje is ingeklapt, je raamluik omhoog is, je stoel rechtop is en je arm leuning naar beneden is voor takeoff en landing.
