Of je nu per boot, auto of vliegtuig gaat je word gecontroleerd bij de grens. Ook betaal je 12 euro extra dat komt dus door de ETA. De reden dat Engeland dit doet is om te controleren wie het land in en uit gaat. Zo proberen ze criminaliteit en terrorisme aan te pakken. Ook is immigratie een onderdeel. Tot woensdag 16 april betaal je 12 euro daarna zal je 20 euro moet afrekenen. Je kan de ETA via een app kopen en je krijgt hem binnen 3 dagen. Over het algemeen is reizen naar de VS geen probleem maar de overheid heeft een aangepast advies voor lhbti mensen. Met name transgenders moeten opletten. Je moet je gender invullen hoe je geboren bent. Zeker als er een x op je paspoort staat. Dit geld ook voor intersekse. Er word in de VS maar 2 geslachten erkend. 

Er kan verwarring onstaan als er op je paspoort wat anders staat dan op je ESTA of visum. De immigratie dienst weet dan niet welke van de 2 waar is en dat kan leiden tot afwijzing. 
Er zijn voor meer landen een vergunning nodig denk aan Canada en dus ook Amerika. Ook Europa zit dit ook te overwegen. Mocht er nieuwe ontwikkelingen zijn dan zal je daar van horen.
